Our role

While at Buro Four, Martin was involved with the project until it achieved financial close in 2009. He kept a strategic level-interest whilst Kier delivered the project on site.

Project details

The Wellington Academy, part of the Royal Wootton Bassett Academy Trust, was completed in 2011. The new school caters for 1,150 secondary students and specialises in performing arts, business and enterprise, science and design and technology.

A wide variety of spaces allow for formal and informal learning, with breakout spaces and a large central atrium proving opportunities for socialising. An onsite boarding house with associated facilities provides accommodation for 100 pupils, and a cadet section is also included.

The sustainable timber construction and natural ventilation improves the building’s environmental performance.
