Our role

Ashfold engaged with this renovation project to help our client overcome several obstacles on a house in Chiswick. The project was brought back on track and completed to the highest standards.

Ashfold’s responsibility included managing communications between client and contractor, carrying out accurate valuation reviews. This ensured the project progressed on time and within budget. We provided ongoing details on cost and programme, alerting the client only when required.

Ashfold is also proud to have contributed to the achievement of Passivhaus standards, which fell outside of the project contractor’s experience.

Ultimately we believe our most important contribution to Duke Road was to improve our client’s wellbeing by alleviating the stress and extreme pressure they faced on an unexpectedly complex construction project.

Project details

The owner of this detached locally listed Victorian cottage in Chiswick undertook a major renovation to create a large contemporary five-bedroom family home. Works include structural repairs, creation of a new basement and top floor extension. The project also involves a complete interior fit-out, with only the original external walls retained.

The building renovation was originally designed to meet Passivhaus standards for owner occupation. It features timber-framed double-glazed windows, MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery) system, underfloor heating and lime plaster insulation. Due to various issues before Ashfold’s involvement, Passivhaus certification wasn’t sought. However, we did carry out and pass an air pressure test.
